Skin Tag Removal in Seoul – Diagnosis by Board-Certified Dermatologists

Skin tags (acrochordons) are small, soft, skin-coloured or brown growths that hang from the skin, usually on the neck, armpits, eyelids and groin. They are harmless but can catch on clothing or jewellery. At The Heal Dermatology Sinsa Main Branch in Gangnam, Seoul, board-certified dermatologists confirm the diagnosis and remove skin tags quickly with laser, cautery or snip excision.

What causes skin tags

Skin tags are common and tend to appear in areas of friction. They become more frequent with age, weight gain, pregnancy, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, and there is often a family tendency. They are not contagious.

How a dermatologist diagnoses it

A dermatologist usually recognises skin tags on sight, sometimes using a dermatoscope. They distinguish them from warts, moles, neurofibromas and seborrheic keratosis. Any lesion with unusual features may be sent for testing after removal.

Treatment options at The Heal Sinsa

Skin tags can be removed by CO2 laser, electrocautery, snip excision or cryotherapy, typically under local anaesthetic cream or injection. Many small tags can be treated in one visit. Availability of specific devices varies by branch – confirm at consultation. Every plan starts with a 1:1 consultation with a Korean board-certified dermatologist and imaging-based skin analysis; you will not be pushed toward treatment you do not need. Pricing is confirmed after consultation; see pricing and payment.

Sessions, downtime & side effects

  • Usually one short session for multiple tags
  • Small scabs heal within about 5–10 days
  • Mild redness or temporary pigment change may occur
  • Risks are low and include minor bleeding, infection or rare scarring

Home care

Keep treated areas clean and dry, apply any ointment provided, and avoid friction from tight collars or jewellery while healing. Do not tie off or cut skin tags at home, which risks bleeding and infection.

When to see a doctor

See a dermatologist if a skin tag bleeds, becomes painful, changes colour, grows quickly, or if many appear suddenly. Numerous skin tags may be a reason to discuss blood sugar checks with your doctor.

Planning around your trip to Seoul

Removal takes only minutes and healing is quick, so it fits easily into a short trip; see your first visit for what to expect. The clinic is on the 7th floor of Sinsa Square near Sinsa Station, close to Garosu-gil (getting here), and English support is available on request (international patients).

Frequently asked questions

Are skin tags dangerous?

Skin tags are harmless and not cancerous. They are removed mainly for comfort or appearance, or if they become irritated. A dermatologist will check that a growth is truly a skin tag before removing it.

Do skin tags grow back after removal?

A removed skin tag does not usually regrow, but new ones may appear in the same areas over time, especially with friction, weight changes or a family tendency. These can be removed in the same way when they bother you.

Is skin tag removal painful?

Most people feel only mild discomfort because numbing cream or local anaesthetic is used. Afterwards there may be slight tenderness for a day or two while small scabs heal. Your dermatologist will explain simple aftercare to keep the area comfortable.
